Sea Eagles in Lysefjord!
Sea eagles are one of, if not, the most majestic wildlife we have in the Stavanger region. Yesterday we were lucky enough to see a young sea eagle close to Preikestolen.
The sight was amazing. The eagle was sitting in a tree on the steep mounatin, probably scouting for fish. It flew up in the air as we approached and stayed with us for a few minutes before it disappeared over the mountain tops.
Over the last decades the number of breeding sea eagles have increased in the west coast of Norway. We have seen more sea eagles in the fjords the last years than ever before.
Today there are 5 active nests in the Høgsfjord and Lysefjord area. The sea eagle is the fourth largest eagle in the world, with a wingspan of 2,5 meters.
Maybe you will meet some sea eagles in the beautiful fjords of Norway.
